OUR HERITAGE
Six Generations. One Family. One Mission.
Incorporated in 1935, McCullough & Sons Well Drilling has been a cornerstone of Forest Lake and the greater Minnesota-Wisconsin region for nearly a century. What started as a small family operation has grown into one of the most trusted names in water well services — but we've never lost our small-business values of personal service, honest pricing, and community commitment.
Today, the 6th generation of the McCullough family continues that tradition, serving homeowners, farmers, and commercial clients with the same dedication that built our reputation over nine decades.

KNOW THE SIGNS
Is Your Well Giving You Warning Signs?
Don't wait until you have no water. These common symptoms often signal a failing pump, pressure tank, or well issue that — caught early — can save you thousands in repairs.
Pump Starts & Stops Constantly
If your pump cycles on and off rapidly while running water, this is called "short cycling." It typically indicates a waterlogged pressure tank or a failing pressure switch — and puts enormous strain on your pump motor.
Pump Runs Without Using Water
A pump that runs when no water is being used is a serious red flag. This usually signals a leak in the well system, a failed foot valve, or a cracked pressure tank bladder. Every minute it runs unchecked increases damage.
Pump Runs Constantly
A pump that never shuts off may be unable to build adequate pressure — often due to a worn pump, a drop in the water table, a broken pipe in the well, or a damaged pressure switch. This leads to motor burnout if ignored.
Sediment in Your Water
Grit, sand, or cloudiness in your water can mean your well screen is failing, the pump is drawing from too close to the bottom, or your well casing has deteriorated. Sediment can damage fixtures and poses health concerns.
WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY
Trusted by Homeowners Across the Region
Real reviews from real customers. We let our work speak for itself — and our neighbors speak for us.
"The Best Choice"
I met with 8 different companies to have a new well drilled. McCullough was definitely the best choice. They are true professionals who know their trade. Dan and Landon were awesome to work with, great communication and very professional from start to finish. If you need a well drilled and want experts who do great work, I would highly recommend this company! Also, after having 8 different bids I can confidently say that they are very competitively priced!
"By Far The Best"
I facilitated a well sealing for clients and we hired McCullough and Sons to do the job. They were one of two companies that provided an estimate. Their estimate was about $3,000 under the other company. They got the job done on a very tight schedule and worked with our handyman who removed decking to access the well. Brian was easy to communicate with and I spoke with him on several occasions before, during, and after the job. This was not a straightforward job, as the exact location of the well was unknown, but they worked quickly to get it done. The office staff was easy to communicate with and very pleasant. Being in real estate, I have worked with several well companies. This one is by far the best in my experience.
"Best Service Ever!"
I called on a Saturday morning as I had zero water pressure. Within a couple hours I had the problem fixed. Was up front with potential costs before he even showed up and was an excellent communicator. Best service ever! Highly recommended!
"Highly Reccomend Them"
We are very happy with their service. Our pump was not working and they worked us in on a very hot day. They arrived and went right to work. They knew what they were doing and stayed right on it. The men were intelligent and pleasant to talk to. We have water again. I would highly recommend them..
"Efficient and Neat"
We hired McCullough and Sons to seal the old well in our house in Falcon Heights. We had a very good experience all around dealing with them. They were responsive, friendly, open about the cost and the process, and accomplished the job with a quick turn-around. Their work was efficient and neat. I recommend them highly.
"Up Front And Fair Pricing"
Pressure tank and well pump went out around 6am as I was getting ready for work. My neighbor referred me to McCullough and they were at my house by 8am working on getting everything fixed. Very thorough and walked me through everything that needed to be done. Up front and fair with their pricing. Had everything up and running shortly after noon.
Brian H. and Landen did a great job! Thank you
"5 Star Experience"
I have worked with McCullough and Sons as a general contractor both for my personal home and the homes which I built for the last 34 years. I have never had any problems or complaints. I recently had them in to replace an old well pump with a new variable speed pump. What I got was fast, professional service, and a really fair price. Again, I have no complaints, Everything works great. My experience was a 5 star experience.
