Rooted in Minnesota Since 1935
In 1935, the McCullough family incorporated what would become one of Minnesota's most enduring well drilling companies — right here in Forest Lake, at 20335 Forest Blvd. North.
By the late 1970s, McCullough and Sons had built a solid reputation across the region — running two service trucks, two rotary drilling machines, and offering both rotary and cable drilling methods. They were already a trusted name in pump repair and water systems, and had established a lasting partnership with Goulds Pumps. They've since added Grundfos and Franklin Electric to their network of industry partners.
Decades passed. Equipment modernized. The industry evolved. But the McCullough family's commitment to honest work and genuine care for their community never wavered. The business has been passed down through multiple generations, each adding their chapter to a legacy built on wells drilled, pumps installed, and families served.
Today, under the leadership of President David L. McCullough, the company continues to serve the same communities, and many of the same families, now on their own second and third generations, who have trusted the McCullough name for nearly a century.

A Neighbor
In 2012, a fifth-grade teacher at Willow River Elementary in Hudson, Wisconsin had an idea: drill a research well on school grounds so students could study how groundwater and surface water are connected in a real-world setting. He looked up McCullough and Sons in the phone book and asked if they'd be interested.
According to the teacher, David's dad didn't hesitate. His answer: "Just let us know where to come." McCullough donated the entire cost of drilling and nearly the entire student body turned out to watch the well go in. The project was covered by the Republican Eagle, a regional newspaper serving the Minnesota-Wisconsin border area.
That response — immediate, no-strings generosity toward a community educational project — says more about this family's character than any advertisement could.
I just looked them up in the Yellow Pages and asked if they would be interested. David's dad didn't hesitate and said, 'Just let us know where to come.' We're very grateful to them.
